About the Role
The Company is seeking a Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) to lead its comprehensive information security program. The CISO will be responsible for safeguarding the organization's digital assets against cyber threats, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations, and promoting a culture of cybersecurity awareness. This pivotal role involves collaborating with executive leadership, academic units, research centers, and external partners to align security strategies with the institution's mission. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, at least 15 years of experience in information security, with a minimum of 8 years in a leadership role, and a proven track record in managing teams and budgets. Expertise in developing and implementing cybersecurity frameworks, compliance and risk management programs, and incident response processes is essential. Applicants for the CISO position at the company should possess a Bachelor's degree in cybersecurity, computer science, information technology, or a related field, and relevant certifications such as CGRC, CISSP, CISM, CRISC, or equivalent. The role requires excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders. The successful candidate will be expected to drive proactive measures to enhance resilience, incident management, and promote secure practices in a diverse ecosystem. This is a critical position in an R1 environment, where the protection of high-value research data and the security of grant-funded projects are of utmost importance. The CISO will report directly to the Vice President for Information Technology and CIO and will be instrumental in the company's strategic plan to become a top public research university.
