UPMC Western Maryland is a voluntary nonprofit hospital with 240 Medicare-certified beds, an acute care, short-term facility located in historic downtown Cumberland, MD, part of the Western Maryland Health System. The CRNAs and anesthesiologists at UPMC Western Maryland work closely as a team valuing smooth collaboration. Responsibilities include pre-anesthesia assessment, obtaining/verifying patient consent, discussing anesthetic options and risks with patients, induction, maintenance, and emergence from anesthesia, monitoring patient's physiological condition, and performing clinical interventions as needed. Requirements include current license as a registered professional nurse, graduation from an accredited nurse anesthesia education program, and certification or recertification by the AANA Council on Certification of Nurse Anesthetists.
