JobsRUs.com is hiring for experienced GAP Leaders for a well-known automotive parts manufacturing facility in Fraser, MI. 

Candidates must have previous team leader experience in an automotive manufacturing environment.

Openings are or 1st and 3rd shifts.

Responsibilities:

Protect GAP from variation. 
Become knowledgeable of workstations
Steers the GAP towards its objectives. 
Focuse on production, HSE, quality, training, and performance.

Environmental procedures and work instructions

  • Health Safety and Environmental (HSE) procedures and work instructions.
  • Ensure GAP members conform to relevant HSE requirements
  • Ensure implementation and reinforcement of 7 Safety Fundamentals

  Ensure Standardized Work

  • Check Standardized Work in detail
  • Use Standardized Work to coach and improve operator performance
  • Train operators who are newly assigned to workstations, helping them attain quality and
  • productivity standards using the polyvalence standard.
  • Audit SW daily
  • Assist operators with daily production duties.
  • Build and update Work Instructions as needed

Ensure Quality

  • Ensure proper application of the 8 Quality Basics.
  • Initiate Line KATA Activities for the GAP
  • Analyze and rework product defects

Produce parts

  • Replace missing operators
  • Reinforce the line (n, n+1)
  • Reinforce the line if an operator is late

Improve work processes

  • Coach operators to improve GAP’s performance
  • Encourage improvement ideas and help implement ideas
  • Liaise with Support Functions to solve problems - root cause
  • Obtain data and lead GAP’s problem-solving activities
  • Submit, implement and Track Improvement Ideas.

Coordinate work within the GAP area

  • Prepare/assist/perform line changeovers
  • Lead daily TOP 5 meetings and end-of-shift debriefings.
  • Update indicators and GAP Board
  • Perform daily and weekly Performance Measurements
  • React in case of problems

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong attention to detail and willing to listen, discuss and ‘bottom out’ issues
  • Ability to work under pressure to tight time scales
  • Ability to stand 10 –12 hours per day
  • Good decision maker, able to work on own initiative
  • Self-motivated and task orientated
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels
  • Strong team player
  • Flexible approach to Business needs
  • MUST be able to work in fast paced environment-Learn on the fly
  • Dexterity: peeling stickers, ripping tape, opening boxes, feeling for knots, bumps, voids
  • Proficient level of English
