Hospital Internal Medicine (HIM) is one of the largest NP/PA practices at Mayo Clinic - Rochester. As NP/PA hospitalists, we work at the top of our scope of practice with significant autonomy, staying current with evidence-based medicine to provide comprehensive care for a diverse, medically complex patient population. Responsibilities include admission, discharge, daily rounding, and patient education.
HIM encompasses general internal medicine, geriatrics, telemetry, perioperative medicine, hematology and oncology, and telemedicine. Staffing models enable collaborative work among physicians, NP/PAs, and Desk Operation Specialists, with NP/PAs participating in 24/7 care including nights, holidays, weekends, and on-call duties.
Beyond clinical duties, NP/PAs have opportunities in leadership, administration, quality improvement, research, and education. The division also serves as a training ground for students and residents, offering involvement in research and quality projects.
Ideal candidates possess extensive medical knowledge, inpatient experience, and a desire to grow professionally. Orientation includes learning the Mayo model of patient care, clinical guidelines, EMR, dictation, ECG interpretation, ACLS/BLS, and simulation-based training in our HIM Boot Camp.
This is a full-time, entry-level position with seniority-based PTO accrual. The role involves working in a hospital setting with a focus on internal medicine.
