Job Description

Interim Executive Director Part‑Time | 60–80 Hours per Month | 3–6 Month Contract Position Overview A statewide coalition is seeking an experienced Interim Executive Director to provide short‑term leadership and operational stability for a period of 3–6 months. The Interim Executive Director will oversee daily operations, support the Board of Directors, manage communications, and guide ongoing advocacy and membership efforts. This is a part‑time, contracted position estimated at 60–80 hours per month, with support from part‑time administrative staff. Key Responsibilities Board & Committee Leadership Facilitate and manage all Board of Directors meetings, including scheduling, agenda preparation, and meeting materials. Lead or support standing committees and ad‑hoc working groups to ensure consistent progress and coordination. Prepare accurate, timely meeting minutes, reports, and follow‑up actions. Communications & Member Engagement Ensure timely and consistent communication with membership, stakeholders, and partners. Draft and distribute newsletters, policy updates, event announcements, and other organizational messaging. Oversee communications channels and maintain professional, consistent engagement with members. Policy & Agency Coordination Attend state and federal agency meetings relevant to housing policy, funding, and advocacy. Monitor federal and state policy developments and disseminate relevant information to membership. Maintain relationships with public‑sector partners, nonprofit organizations, and other statewide stakeholders. Membership & Sponsorship Development Implement strategies to retain and grow membership, including outreach to potential partners and renewal efforts. Support sponsorship recruitment for programs, events, and general operations. Work with the Board to strengthen member value and visibility. Event Planning & Management Plan, coordinate, and execute 2–3 small events during the interim period, such as membership meetings, trainings, or informational sessions. Oversee logistics, marketing, registration, and day‑of coordination. Manage event budgets and post‑event reporting. Administrative Oversight Provide direction to part‑time staff and ensure effective workflow. Maintain up‑to‑date organizational records, calendars, shared drives, and administrative systems. Support financial management tasks as needed, including invoice processing, budgeting support, and grant or sponsorship documentation. Qualifications Demonstrated leadership experience in nonprofit management, public policy, housing, or community development. Strong organizational and project‑management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing agendas, minutes, and formal communications. Experience working with boards, committees, or coalitions preferred. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and maintain confidentiality. Familiarity with state agencies, federal programs, or related policy areas is highly desirable. Job Requirements Prior experience in nonprofit leadership, coalition management, or public policy work. Strong organizational and administrative skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Excellent written and verbal communication abilities, including preparing agendas, minutes, and member communications. Ability to facilitate board and committee meetings professionally and efficiently. Familiarity with state and federal agencies, programs, or related policy areas (preferred). Experience with event planning and coordination. Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality. Proficiency with email platforms, shared drives, and basic office software (Word, Excel, Zoom, etc.). Availability to commit 60–80 hours per month for a 3–6 month interim period.
