Job Description

The Pharmacy Technician is responsible for assisting with the practice of pharmacy in accordance with state and federal regulations. The incumbent is responsible for using pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions. Duties and responsibilities include assisting and coaching pharmacy technicians in the operation of the pharmacy systems and ensures compliance to the company’s policies and procedures. Employees model and deliver the highest level of quality healthcare while working directly with patients and their families, doctors and other medical personnel. Supervision is received from the Pharmacist who reviews work for attainment of desired objectives and conformity with departmental policies and procedures through conferences, personal inspections and review of report. Essential duties include reviewing and complying with the Pharmacy Technician Code of Conduct; helping healthcare providers and patients by greeting them in person or by phone, answering questions and requests, and referring inquiries to the Pharmacist; maintaining pharmacy inventory; maintaining knowledge of asset protection techniques; maintaining a safe and clean pharmacy; performing duties assigned by the Pharmacist such as entering patient and drug information, filling prescriptions, verifying medicine, and checking for interactions; reporting prescription errors; following government regulations including HIPAA, Medicare and Co-pay requirements; engaging patients to ensure a positive experience; handling cash register sales; directing and assisting team members; processing claims for third-party reimbursement; earning and maintaining certification and licensure; attending training and continuing education; maintaining knowledge and skill in healthcare and pharmacy; and performing other duties as assigned. Knowledge, skills, and abilities required include knowledge of ChenMed products and pharmacy law, strong interpersonal and communication skills, good math and analytical skills, ability to multitask and work independently, excellent organization skills, basic proficiency in Microsoft Office, and fluency in English. Education and experience criteria include a high school diploma or equivalent, Board of Pharmacy technician registration with current licensure and certification, and a minimum of one year of experience in a pharmacy setting including pharmacy/medical data entry experience.
