AWP is a one-of-a-kind local program dedicated to bringing yoga and mindfulness, fitness and personal training, outdoor services, nutrition services, physical therapy, peer support, art therapy, and music therapy to the Milwaukee community, with a particular focus on serving individuals in mental health recovery and people with disabilities.

About the role: The Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) is a hybrid role, working both as a PTA and Fitness Provider. The PTA supports clients in physical and mental health recovery, working 1:1 with individuals to provide rehabilitation and personal training that is fully customized to the clients needs, following Ascent Wellness Program principles to provide accessible and inclusive wellness services.Interventions may include: manual therapy, basic fitness education, exploration of natural & pain-free movement, exercises for overall physical mobility and joint health, movement for self-regulation, workout & home practice planning, stretching/self-massage, muscular endurance and strength-training, cardiovascular activity, outdoor activity, and tours of local fitness spaces (e.g., recreation centers, gyms, dance studios, etc.). Services are delivered on-site, in-home or in community locations, outdoors, and/or via telehealth, according to client needs. Travel is required.

Hours and pay: This is a full-time position requiring a minimum of 32 hours per week. Typical working hours are 8am to 5pm Monday through Friday.
With a Bachelor's degree related to the role: $57,000 per year base salary, with the potential to earn up to $65,000 in the first year with additional commission and bonus opportunities.
Without a Bachelor's degree related to the role: $52,000 per year base salary, with the potential to earn up to $57,000 in the first year with additional commission and bonus opportunities.
