This role will be based remotely in the Southwest region of the United Statesand will be expected to travel to customers and to the corporate office in Seattle, WA, up to 40%.

Trident Seafoods is the largest vertically integrated seafood harvesting and processing company in North America. Trident is a privately held, 100 percent USA-owned company with primary seafood processing operations and fleet support in twelve Alaska communities. Trident's global operations produce finished wild Alaska seafood products in 6 countries and its sales teams serve customers in over 50 countries. Trident employs approximately 9,000 people worldwide each year and partners with over 5,400 independent fishermen and crewmembers. Species harvested and processed by Trident include virtually every commercial species of salmon, whitefish, and crab harvested in the North Pacific and Alaska. The global supply chain also includes cultured and wild species from a network of trusted sources worldwide.

Summary: The Sales Director for the Southwest region will be responsible for the retail accounts in the Southwest and Texas areas. This individual will execute sales activities to drive revenue growth and market expansion. This position will cultivate strong relationships with key clients, identify new business opportunities, and analyze market trends to stay ahead of competitors. This role also requires strong cross-collaboration with internal stakeholders, including marketing, Research and Development (R&D), and customer experience to successfully deliver to customers and meet sales objectives. This position will be based in the southwest region of the United States.

  • Develops and grows all seafood product category sales across multiple departments at key retailers.
  • Meets with buyers to maintain relationships, negotiate, and close deals.
  • Provides sales forecasting activities as needed and is responsible for the accuracy of such forecast.
  • Executes strategic sales plans to achieve goals.
  • Develops deep relationships with the customer, to further the linkage between Trident and the customer.
  • Presents for review of sales quotes prior to delivery to customers.
  • Prepares monthly reports showing sales volume, potential sales, and areas of proposed client base expansion; leverages market data to determine potential market demands, merchandising plans, and customer-specific requirements. Shares data with internal partners.
  • Reviews supply chain forecast weekly against results and meets monthly with the Demand Planning group.
  • Partners with Manager or other Executives to make calls on high-value relationships.
  • Collaborates with Marketing, Research & Development, and Category Managers in developing a sales and pricing strategy for new and existing products.
  • Ensures that special product requests from customers are quickly met through a partnership with Manager, Research & Development, and Production.
  • Reviews market data to anticipate future trends. Monitors and evaluates the activities and products of the competition.
  • Partners with other internal departments (Credit, Sales Support, Production, Logistics) to conduct sales transactions efficiently and accurately.

This is a salaried exempt position with an annualized salary range of $130,000to $180,000.

Minimum Requirements


Required Qualifications (education, years of experience, KSAs)

  • A minimum of ten years' experience in food sales or procurement, or merchandising, preferably in the southwest region.
  • Experience working with Whole Foods, HEB, and other retailers.
  • A bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or equivalent area of focus; or equivalent combination of education experience.
  • Reside in the Southwest region of the United States with the ability to travel up to 40% to visit Lower 48 plants, Co-Manufacturer partnerships, Alaska processing facilities; to meet with Sales Managers and key customers; to attend customer-sponsored charitable events and industry trade shows.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • A valid driver's license.

Preferred education and experience

  • Seafood procurement and/or seafood industry experience.
  • Seafood industry experience.
  • Ability to speak effectively with customers, including understanding cultural norms.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent; and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Work environment (includes travel/on-call):

This role will require frequent travel across North America and to the corporate office in Seattle (should candidate be remote), up to 40%.

Physical demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use a computer for long periods and often sit at a desk in an office environment.

The employee is occasionally required to sit; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.

The employee moves objects regularly up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 25 pounds.
