Thomas Stone and Materials is a locally-based bulk materials supplier. This is a delivery position responsible for driving class A dump trucks and flat beds to customers in the San Antonio and surrounding areas. Truck drivers are responsible for operating trucks to transport dirt, aggregate, Stone, and other materials to various customer locations. Will also work in the yard area to stockpile and move materials as needed. This is a skilled position involving the safe and efficient operation of equipment/trucks. Work will be performed per the supervisor’s instruction, free from direct supervision except for more complicated jobs.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

· Operates truck in safe and professional manner on public highways, roads, in the yard area and at various job sites to deliver materials. Trucks driven include but are not limited to: end dumps, dump truck, and flatbed trucks.

· Performs daily pre/post trip inspections with appropriate documentation in compliance with DOT guidelines.

· Checks fluid levels, tires, lights, and other controls for safe operation.

· Keeps accurate log of deliveries and completes required paperwork for billing.

· Load and unload equipment or materials.

· Monitor various gauges during operation of vehicle.

· Maintain daily vehicle mileage logs.

· Unrolls truck tarp to cover loads when required.

· Assure product quality to the best of the Driver’s ability.

· Perform minor servicing and maintenance of equipment; refer major problems to the supervisor.

· Properly follow all company policies and procedures for safe working procedures and environment. Report any problems to the supervisor.

· Obey applicable laws and follow dispatch instructions.

· Must keep vehicle in a clean and orderly condition throughout day.

· Deliver bulk materials onsite at customers' locations.

· Ensure correct product loaded and delivered.

· Regular and predictable attendance at assigned times is required.

· Other duties as assigned

The schedule is 5-6 days per week.

Thomas Stone and Materials is looking for an honest person with excellent communication skills and sales experience working directly with customers. Previous experience driving a dump truck for local delivery is a plus.

Compensation:

Starting rate for Class A is $16 to $18/hr

Evaluation and eligibility for a raise after 60 days.

Pay period: Semi Monthly

MUST BE WILLING AND ABLE TO WORK SATURDAYS, HOLIDAYS. WE ARE A SERVICE BASED BUSINESS, WITH HIGH DEMAND BASED AROUND SUMMER HOLIDAYS. OPPORTUNITY TO WORK PLENTY OF 1.5x OVERTIME DURING THE SUMMER MONTHS.

Driver Minimum Qualifications are:

You MUST be 21 years of age or older.

You MUST have a valid state-issued driver's license

You MUST have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)

You MUST have the ability to lift and carry packages and objects throughout the workday.

You MUST be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and random ongoing drug screens.

You MAY NOT have DWI/DUIs

You MAY NOT have any moving violations, citations or accidents within the past 3 years

You MAY NOT have convictions for possession, use, manufacturing and/or distribution of controlled substances or illegal drugs

You MAY NOT have felony convictions

Full Time

Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
