In this role, there is the opportunity to -

  • Oversee daily laboratory operations to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant diagnostic testing.
  • \n
  • Ensure adherence to all applicable hospital policies, regulatory standards, and accreditation requirements.
  • \n
  • Develop and implement short- and long-term goals aligned with system-wide strategic initiatives.
  • \n
  • Supervise laboratory staff, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance evaluation.
  • \n
  • Maintain documentation and compliance for quality control, quality assurance, and proficiency testing programs.
  • \n
  • Monitor key performance metrics and recommend improvements in testing, service, and workflow efficiency.
  • \n
  • Collaborate with Laboratory Director and other leaders to optimize cross-site operations and resources.
  • \n
  • Facilitate continuing education and professional development for laboratory personnel.
  • \n
  • Manage departmental budgets, capital equipment, and operational spending within defined limits.
  • \n
  • Investigate and resolve laboratory-related complaints, safety issues, and non-compliance incidents.
  • \n
  • Implement new testing methodologies and technologies in collaboration with clinical stakeholders.
  • \n
  • Maintain a safe laboratory environment following hospital and regulatory safety protocols.
  • \n
  • Participate in policy development and ensure staff compliance with current procedures and guidelines.
  • \n
  • Represent the laboratory on hospital or community committees to support institutional goals.
  • \n

Required

\n
    \n
  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Medical Laboratory Science or equivalent discipline
  • \n
  • Six years of experience in laboratory operations required, including two or more years in a supervisory or leadership capacity preferred
  • \n
  • Analytical and organizational ability necessary to provide effective operational, administrative, financial and personnel management in assigned areas
  • \n
  • Interpersonal abilities necessary to deal effectively with all levels of Hospital staff and physicians and to direct assigned personnel
  • \n
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills
  • \n
  • Demonstrated proficiency in computer applications
  • \n

Preferred

  • Advanced degree in Management / Business Administration
  • \n
  • Experience in a clinical laboratory environment
  • \n
\n

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
New York license preferred for NY locations. Am Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certification (or equivalent) preferred.
